I drew Mr. Poe, the owner of the mansion in Roulette, a compulsive gambler who risks his own life in desperate attempts to feel alive again. I wanted to capture his dangerous fascination with gambling through the playing cards and rough sketching lines. Watching this musical made me question what it truly means to feel alive, and I often found myself thinking back to the moments when I had felt most alive. Perhaps that was what drew me to Poe: the crazy idea that someone could risk losing their life simply to feel that they were living it.
